Loris Campanile, founder of Track My Container

Hi, I'm Loris. I built this because I needed it.

I run Recargo, a freight forwarder here in Melbourne. Every morning someone on my team was logging into a dozen carrier websites just to find out where our customers' containers were. It drove us mad, so we built a tool that checks all of them for us.

That tool is what powers the search above. We use it every day for our own shipments, so when a carrier changes something we feel it first and fix it fast.

Container tracking questions

How do I track a shipping container?

Type the container number into the box at the top of this page. You can also use the booking number or bill of lading (B/L) number from your shipping documents. We work out which carrier is moving the box and show its voyage, ports and arrival date.

What does a container number look like?

Four letters followed by seven digits, for example CSQU3054383. The first three letters identify the owner, the fourth is usually U, and the last digit is a check digit. You will find it on the container doors and on your bill of lading.

Can I track by bill of lading or booking number?

Yes. Paste the carrier's booking or bill of lading number. Forwarder house bills (HBL) are not supported, because only your forwarder knows them.

Which shipping lines can I track?

Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, COSCO, OOCL, ONE, Evergreen, ANL. Leased containers work too: we search the carriers for you.

Is container tracking free?

Yes, 2 lookups a day are free with no account. To track many containers or connect your own systems, API plans start at $49 USD a month.

Why does the date differ from my forwarder's?

We show the carrier's latest schedule. Forwarders sometimes add buffer days, and carriers update estimates as the voyage progresses, so check again closer to arrival.
